Privileged Access Management

PAM Quick Check Assessment

Most organisations have some form of privileged access control in place. Fewer can say with confidence that those controls would pass regulatory scrutiny today.

Intragen's PAM Quick Check is a structured two-hour assessment conducted by our specialist team. It benchmarks your current programme against what auditors, regulators, and security frameworks now expect and tells you, in plain terms, where you stand.

What brings organisations to a Quick Check

Privileged access programmes rarely fail all at once, they drift. By the time an audit finding surfaces, the gap between what exists and what is documented has been widening for months.

The organisations that find a Quick Check most useful typically recognise one or more of the following:

  • Privileged access has expanded since the original implementation and visibility has not kept pace
  • An upcoming audit, regulatory review, or internal control assessment has created urgency around the current posture
  • There is uncertainty about whether existing controls are applied consistently across all environments
  • A previous audit raised findings related to access governance or privileged account management
  • The team responsible for PAM has changed, and programme knowledge has not transferred cleanly

A Quick Check addresses each of these directly.

What a Quick Check tells you

Your maturity band

A clear assessment of where your programme sits: strong foundation, targeted exposure, or significant gaps benchmarked against the eleven capability areas auditors now test.

Your highest-risk gaps

The two or three areas in your current programme that carry the most exposure. Not a comprehensive list of everything that could be improved, but the findings that matter most.

Immediate actions

Practical steps your team can take without waiting for a full programme review. Where quick wins exist, the assessment will surface them.

Informed decision advice

Whether you choose to act on the findings internally, engage further with Intragen, or use the output to inform a business case, you leave with a factual picture of your current state.

2 hours

The Quick Check is designed to be contained and practical. A two-hour structured session is enough to identify your maturity level and your highest-risk gaps without consuming weeks of your team's time.

What the PAM Quick Check is (and what it is not)

The Quick Check is a diagnostic assessment, not a sales exercise. It will give you an accurate read of your current privileged access posture, identify the gaps that carry the most risk, and provide practical next steps your team can act on immediately.

It is designed for two groups: organisations that have an existing PAM programme and want to test whether it is holding up, and organisations preparing to implement PAM that want to understand their starting point and the highest-risk areas to address first.

The assessment covers the foundations of a mature privileged access programme. Where relevant, we will also explore how your current controls map to the regulatory expectations most likely to apply to your organisation. At the end, you receive a written findings report, not a sales proposal.

The right time for a Quick Check

A Quick Check is most useful when there is a specific reason to test your current posture rather than assume it is adequate. The clearest signals are:

  • A regulatory audit, internal review, or board-level security assessment is approaching and you want to know where you stand before it begins
  • Your organisation has grown, been acquired, or undergone significant infrastructure change since your PAM programme was last reviewed
  • Audit findings related to access governance or privileged account management have been raised and you need a clear picture of the actual state before responding
  • You have implemented a PAM solution but are unsure whether it is being operated effectively, whether controls are applied consistently, and whether it would hold up under scrutiny
  • You are building a business case for PAM investment and need a factual baseline — current maturity, highest-risk gaps, and a credible starting point for prioritisation

What the session covers

The Quick Check follows a structured format across three areas:

Programme alignment

We establish a shared understanding of your current environment: what PAM tooling is in place, which systems and account types are in scope, and how the programme is currently operated. This takes approximately thirty minutes and ensures the assessment reflects your actual state, not a theoretical baseline.

Maturity assessment

Working through the core capability areas (account discovery and inventory, credential management, privileged user lifecycle, and governance and visibility), we identify where controls are consistent, where they are partial, and where gaps exist. We map your current state against the benchmark expected by regulatory frameworks including NIS2 and DORA where relevant.

Decision Triggers

Findings and quick wins

In the final section, we share our observations directly with your team, identify the two or three gaps that carry the most immediate risk, and discuss practical steps your team can take without a full programme engagement.

Your Quick Check findings report

Within five working days of the assessment, Intragen will provide a written findings report covering the following:

  • A summary of your current PAM maturity, expressed as a clear maturity band with supporting observations
  • The two or three highest-risk gaps identified during the session, with an explanation of why each carries the risk it does
  • A set of practical next steps your team can act on immediately, independent of any further engagement with Intragen
  • Where relevant, an indication of how your current controls map to the regulatory expectations most likely to apply to your organisation

The report is yours to use as you choose: to inform internal prioritisation, to support a board-level conversation, or to form the basis of a fuller programme review. There is no obligation to engage further.
